Who we are
Yagi (listed on the App Store as Yagi IPTV Player) is an app for iPhone, iPad and Mac made by João Santos, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the app and this website, yagi.watch.
What we collect
Nothing. Yagi doesn't ask you to make an account and has no server of its own. It contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking code, and it doesn't use your data to track you across apps and websites. We never see your playlists, your provider's sign-in details, what you watch or when you watch it.
What stays on your device
To work, Yagi keeps these on your device:
- The playlists you add: their name, your provider's server address and the username and password, or the M3U address.
- The channel list, TV guide, logos and posters your provider sends, kept so the app opens quickly.
- Your favourites, names you've given to channels and groups, hidden groups, reminders, settings, and where you stopped in movies and episodes.
- Movies and episodes you download for offline viewing.
- Diagnostic logs about playback, used only by the app and never sent anywhere.
Deleting the app removes all of it from that device.
iCloud
If you're signed in to iCloud, Yagi keeps your playlists, favourites, playlist layout, names, reminders, settings and playback positions in sync between your devices. They're stored in the app's private iCloud database, which belongs to your Apple Account: only you can read it, and we have no access to it. Your provider's sign-in details are saved in iCloud's encrypted fields.
iCloud is run by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. You can turn iCloud off for Yagi at any time in your device's iCloud settings; the app then keeps everything on the device only.
Who Yagi talks to
- Your provider. To play anything, the app connects to the server in the playlist you added and to the addresses it lists for streams, the TV guide, logos and posters. Those servers see what any streaming service sees, such as your IP address and what you request. Your provider's own privacy policy applies to them.
- Apple. To check whether you're online, the app occasionally loads Apple's standard connection test pages.
Yagi doesn't provide, include or host any channels, movies or shows, and isn't responsible for the content or practices of the providers you choose to use.
Apple's services
Yagi uses features of iOS, iPadOS and macOS that Apple runs and that are covered by Apple's Privacy Policy:
- Subscriptions are bought and managed through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we only learn from the App Store, on your device, whether your subscription is active.
- Reminders for TV programmes are local notifications, scheduled on your device.
- Handoff and AirPlay pass what you're watching to your own nearby devices when you use them.
- Ratings: the app may ask once, through Apple's own prompt, whether you'd like to rate it.
- If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with us. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
This website
yagi.watch has no cookies, analytics or trackers, and loads nothing from other companies. It's hosted by Cloudflare, whose servers handle requests the way any web host does. The language you choose is remembered in your own browser, as is where you left a film in the demo; neither is ever sent to us. The demo plays its video from our own storage, and nothing you do in it is recorded.
Children
Yagi isn't directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your choices
Because we hold no data about you, there's nothing for us to hand over, correct or delete. You stay in control of everything Yagi keeps: remove a playlist in the app, turn off iCloud for Yagi, delete your iCloud data for the app in your Apple Account settings, or delete the app.
If you email us, we use your message only to answer it and delete it when it's no longer needed.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date below. If Yagi ever started collecting data, the policy would say so before the app did.
